Business entrepreneur and visual artist, Mabel Phelps came to Hebden Bridge, with her sons Eric and Gordon, in late August 2019. She was approximately 17 months old and had been rescued by the Cats Protection League from dire living conditions. At the time, she was heavily pregnant and unwell. After six months with brilliant foster carers, during which she underwent extensive mouth surgery, Mabel and two of her young sons made the move. Having rapidly established themselves in the local scene, they set up their family business Mabel Phelps & Sons. My regular collaborators, here they are - in their own words:
